EMT / PARAMEDIC APPLICATIONS

Medrills, presented by ArchieMD, is a series of novel, mobile-based applications that utilize 3D visualizations and interactives to teach emergency medical concepts and skills. These products combine 3D computer graphics and gaming technology to provide an inquiry-based, immersive learning environment for training on the go. The overall goal of Medrills is to increase the knowledge of medical personnel, enable effective distribution of training materials, reduce training costs, and to improve certification rates nationwide. Medrills apps focus on Paramedic and EMT tasks and skills, and have been created and revised to follow N-REMT guidelines in order to be certified by CAPCE and to provide Continuing Education Hours for EMTs and Paramedics.  All EMT/Paramedic Medrills applications for Android and iOS devices have the capability to earn CAPCE certified Continuing Education hours (CEH or CEU).

Group Subscription App

Medrills Group or Single User Subscriptions allows access to all Medrills EMT and Paramedic training apps in one place. Group Administrators can purchase licenses for multiple EMTs as well as monitor progress and access to content.

This lesson includes: Forming a scene size-up, identifying immediate life threats, assessment of both a responsive and unresponsive patient, and initial assessment of a patient's airway, breathing, and circulation.

Secondary Assessment Trauma

The Paramedic and EMT task of Secondary Assessment Trauma is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and interactive exercises to reinforce key learning concepts. This lesson includes: A brief recap of the primary trauma assessment as well as how to perform a systematic head-to-toe assessment, gathering of vital signs, and performing a SAMPLE history. 

Secondary Assessment Medical
 

The EMT task of completing a secondary assessment of a medical is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and interactive exercises to reinforce key learning concepts. This lesson will help the EMS provider in further assessing a patient using a systematic approach. This application covers questioning the patient and bystanders, how to look for important clues, as well as equipment needed to conduct a full secondary assessment.   

Poisoning and Overdose Emergencies

The EMT assessment and treatment of overdose and poisonings is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and interactive exercises to reinforce key learning concepts. This lesson includes: The various routes of exposure, assessment, and treatments for these emergencies.

Allergic Reactions
 

The EMT assessment and treatment of an allergic reaction is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and interactive exercises to reinforce key learning concepts. This lesson includes: The pathophysiology of allergic reactions, causes, and effective treatments for an EMT provider.

Scene Size-Up
 

The Paramedic and EMT task of Scene size-up is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and interactive exercises to reinforce key learning concepts. This lesson includes: Identifying potential dangers, how to select proper personal protective equipment, initial assessment of a patient, and how to identify the need for additional resources.  

Obtaining IV Access
 

The Advanced/Paramedic task of Obtaining IV Access is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and the critical skills are tested using interactive exercises. This Intravenous Infusion lesson includes: preparing the IV, performing the venipuncture, and discontinuing the IV.

Cricothyroidotomy
 

The Advanced/Paramedic task of Cricothyroidotomy is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and the critical skills are tested using interactive exercises. This Cricothyroidotomy lesson includes: verifying the blockage of an upper airway, locating the cricothyroid membrane, performing the correct incisions, and inserting and securing an airway tube.

Medication Port
 

The Advanced/Paramedic task of Medication Port is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and the critical skills are tested using interactive exercises. This Medication Port lesson includes: finding an insertion site for the needle, correct angle and insertion method, how to connect the catheter to a MAP and IV bag, and initiate fluids administration.  

NCD for Pneumothorax
 

The Advanced/Paramedic task of Needle Chest Decompression is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and the critical skills are tested using interactive exercises. This Needle Chest Decompression lesson includes: verifying the presence of tension pneumothorax, identifying where and how to insert the needle, and performing the chest decompression procedure.

AED
 

The Basic/EMT task of AED is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and the critical skills are tested using interactive exercises. This AED lesson includes: proper CPR/questioning technique, how/where to attach pads, how to properly analyze the situation and provide shock and additional CPR, and correct transport protocol.  

Hemorrhage Control
 

The Basic/EMT task of Hemorrhage Control is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and the critical skills are tested using interactive exercises. This Hemorrhage Control lesson includes: identifying different types of bleeding (arterial, venous, capillary), learning how to stop bleeding using various methods, learning how to properly apply dressings/tourniquet, and how to check for shock.

Medication Administration
 

The Basic/EMT task of Medication Administration is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and the critical skills are tested using interactive exercises. This Administering Medicine lesson includes: verifying the rights of medication administration, how to choose the correct route, how to administer medications in various routes (oral, sublingual, inhalation, nasal, transdermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, IV, intraosseous injection), and correct technique for monitoring the patient for various complications.

Airway Suctioning
 

The Basic/EMT task of Airway Suctioning is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and the critical skills are tested using interactive exercises. This Suctioning Airway lesson includes: verifying the need for suctioning, how to set up and prepare the suctioning unit and patient, how to properly suction the patient, and how to correctly ventilate and monitor the patient.

Performing CPR
 

The Basic/EMT task of performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and interactive exercises to reinforce key learning concepts. This lesson includes: patient and scene evaluation, proper CPR techniques on adult, child and an infant, as well as airway management and oxygen administration techniques.

Airway Management
 

The Basic/EMT task of airway management is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and interactive exercises to reinforce key learning concepts. This lesson includes: assessing the patient, opening and inspecting the airway, suctioning the airway, choosing and inserting the appropriate airway adjunct, ventilating the patient, and  monitoring the patient.

Triage
 

The Basic/EMT task of triage assessment is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and interactive exercises to reinforce key learning concepts. This lesson includes: assessing the situation, assessing the patients, numerous triage techniques, performing various first response treatments, performing secondary triage, protocols of transporting, and performing physical exam.

Oxygen Administration
 

The Basic/EMT task of Oxygen Administration is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and interactive exercises to reinforce key learning concepts. This lesson includes: selecting the proper size and type of oxygen, testing and preparation of the equipment, choosing and attaching an oxygen delivery device, placing the appropriate oxygen delivery device on the patient, administering oxygen, and safety precautions when using an oxygen tank.

Hypovolemic Shock
 

The Basic/EMT task for treatment of hypovolemic shock is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and interactive exercises to reinforce key learning concepts. This lesson includes: opening the airway, oxygen administration, using various methods to control bleeding, initiating intravenous fluids, applying a pneumatic anti-shock garment (PASG), applying a splint, and the protocols of transporting.

Fracture
 

The Basic/EMT task of musculoskeletal fracture management is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and interactive exercises to reinforce key learning concepts. This lesson includes: injury assessment, realigning the deformed extremity, splinting the extremity, protocols of transporting, and hazards of splinting.

Spinal Cord Injury
 

The Basic/EMT task of spinal cord injury management is fully illustrated using 3D graphics and interactive exercises to reinforce key learning concepts. This lesson includes: providing manual stabilization for the head and neck, opening airway and oxygen administration, checking for signs and symptoms of a spinal injury, applying the appropriate spinal immobilization device, and protocols of transporting.
